On June 28, LISC Hampton Roads and RISE kicked off their partnership by hosting a Challenge Design Workshop to define the biggest threats facing our local communities, from affordable housing and financial stability to economic resiliency and small business development.

Why a Challenge Design Workshop?

  • A framing conversation with senior leaders working on resilience across different sectors.
  • Facilitated conversations to identify obstacles to community resilience and potential areas for innovations.
  • An opportunity to connect with cross-sector leaders from across SE Virginia and beyond.
  • A focus on the needs of underestimated communities and opportunities for catalytic systems change.

Step 2:

We're Up To The Challenge. Are You?

Up next: LISC + RISE will be launching a new resilience challenge based on the insights gathered during our Workshop. We’ll identify key areas for innovation - whether in technology, processes, or otherwise – and seek business to develop more resilient systems. Challenge winners will receive catalytic funding, a real-world testbed to pilot their solution, and much more!

Step 3:

Real-world challenges.
Real-life solutions.

Once selected, Challenge winners pilot their solutions in the living lab of Hampton Roads. During that time they will build and deploy their solutions with critical support from our resilience experts, generating real-time feedback on what’s working and what needs refinement. This provides a real-world demonstration of value and efficacy crucial for businesses to grow and scale their next-generation products and technologies.

Thanks to these powerful partners for supporting our Challenge Design Workshop
